At Rutges Cargo, investment in technology is a priority at several levels. Our ambition is to make EDI (electronic data interchange) the standard communication format for bookings, status updates and delivery confirmations and we now receive over 60% of shipment orders electronically. The benefits of EDI include higher standards of information, time and cost savings, more effective planning and more accurate invoicing. More sophisticated software allows us to manage information extremely effectively, specifically vehicle location, shipment status and asset optimisation.
